Back to school

Hello Hello!

My Kids are back to school. I cannot believe I am the mother of a 5th grader and a 8th grader. How did we get there? Where did the time go? I used to have babies suckling on my breasts, only wanting to sleep with me, following me to the bathroom just a week ago or at least it feels like that. They are getting older and I am getting older. I do not fear aging. In fact, I am very excited to turn 40 next year (Inshallah, God willing) and enter a new phase in my life. What I am afraid of is missing out on my boys life. I used to be so involved with their schooling but now it is no longer the case. When I think that I used to be so present I was even friends with their former teachers (we still follow each other on Instagram by the way) it breaks my heart. I hate that feeling but I will find ways to remedy to it.

Anyway, I had to attend their first day back to school. Usually, I make it a mission to go and see them in their classrooms and if time allows it, to talk to their teachers. I felt like dressing up a bit since I also had an important meeting at work later that day. I knew in advance I wanted to debut this top I bought on sale back in July but I had another skirt that I wanted to pair it with.

Unfortunately, when I tried it on in the morning, it was a bit loose at the waist. I am sure I did not lose weight, quite the contrary. I am baffled as to what happened.
Anyway I dig up this navy skirt and it was perfect. I added these bright yellow pumps I had for ages but never wore. And for a good reason, they are so pretty, I was afraid they would get damaged once I wear them outside. Mind you, I only wore them on dry land aka inside my kids school and inside my office, and wore my ballet flats on the muddy streets (it rained heavily the day before).

Aren't these the prettiest pumps you have ever seen?

Don't mind my pimples, I indulge in too much good and oily stuff during my time in the Gambia and Casamance

I felt great the entire day except maybe for a minute or two when the wind was blowing my skirt. Thankfully I had biker shorts underneath it. Still I am not used to wearing such a short skirt without tights or leggings. However it is way too hot for that in this weather. When colder days will make an appearance, I will revert to my ways. In the meantime admire my (unshaven) legs.

After a fun Summer, life is finally back to normal. I am back at work, the kids are back to school, it is now time to focus on the important stuff: make money all the while supporting my kids and helping them be better by any means necessary. What is your back to school life like?
