The case of the Ex(es)

Image
As much as I love to talk about my mariage, or failed mariage, it is not the only relationship I had. I dated men before and after. Although I am not sure we can qualify dating at 17 as a serious relationship. Still most of those relationships were serious to me. Over the years, I managed to stay friendly with almost all of my exes or at least cordial. Some of them I still consider friends, others I would not mind at all meeting them for a quick chat, while a few I would love to pretend that they never existed.

Image
Hello hello ! Today I wanted to share a review of my stay at the Hotel Calao du Lac. In july when my kids were out of school for Summer,  I booked a hotel in Lac rose not far from Dakar called Le Calao du Lac. I had previously visited the hotel with my family for a day out and it was a pleasant experience. I saw that they added some new accommodations that I had to try. We went there from Thursday to Saturday. The Sunday was supposed to be local elections in the country so I did not want to be away from home. We arrived before 2 pm. The place seemed desert

Down memory lane

Hello! Sheer Kimono - thrifted Jumpsuit - Numero Uno Bag - thrifted Shoes - gifted Necklace - Sandaga market I think I have mentionned my former school once ow several times here before. But for those who are new to this blog, let me tell you that I was in a boarding school when I was a teen. My school called "Maison d'Education Mariama Ba" was located in a island named Goree, 3 kms away from the city of Dakar. I went there for middle and high school between the years of 1991 and 1998. Back in the day, to enter the school all you had to do was be among the 25 best girls who passed the middle school entrance exam. I think I was either 14th or 20th in the entire country. Anyway, I spent some of the best days of my life in that school. And there I met girls I still call my friends to this day.

Nguenteh or Naming Ceremony

Image
Update: This post is more than 3 years old. I forgot to post it back then. Hello hello! Today I have decided to let y'all know about the traditions behind a naming ceremony in my country of Senegal. Last month, my baby brother had a baby girl. I was at the hospital when she was born and let me tell you that it was emotional. But I digress. In my country, it is the tradition to wait seven days before giving the baby a name. Usually for the first born, there is a big event for this naming ceremony. And there is a lot of protocol. First off we name the baby. Since we are Muslim, we call the Imam of the Mosque where my brother and his wife got married, to conduct the ceremony. The entire family and friends are gathered in a room. The tradition is that the Badiene ( which is the Sister of the father) holds the baby during the ceremony, a role I had to fulfill since I am the only sister. But before we can start, the baby's hair also has to be shaved. That is more a religious gui
