All that Sparkle!

Image
Hello! I was planning on doing a post showcasing all the glittery outfits one could wear during the holiday season in hopes to inspire y’all. However, the way I have been busy lately trying to bank on holiday season to « relaunch » my brand, I am not sure I even have the time. Influencers and fashion bloggers make it seem easy. But picking outfits and shooting them is no joke. In the past, I have done it but it took me months to compile all the looks and finally post them. At this rate, I may publish that post by mid May. Lol. Headband, Sweater, pleated skirt And sandals all from Numero Uno  Earrings - Imaara  Ring - Marche Sandaga  Anyway, enough with the excuses. I recently got the opportunity to wear such holiday party worthy outfit. It was my brother’s birthday and his wife decided to throw him a surprise party. Well it was supposed to be a surprise but my brother is so nosy that nothing passes him by. Plus, I asked him to chauffeur me around town to pick up his cake and drinks fo

Sunday Brunch at the Novotel

Image
In my forever quest to find the best eating places in Dakar, I decided to check the Sunday brunch at the Novotel with the kids recently. I have been to the Novotel several times in my lifetime. I started when I was a teen for swimming lessons. When I returned home, I patronized the place many times for work and for fun. When Covid hit the country, the hotel served as quarantine facilities. They reopened to the general public last year and introduced a new brunch formula.  Dress - Numero Uno  Shoes - H&M Bag - Gift  Now let me give you my review of the brunch.  The price of the brunch is very attractive: 20.000 FCFA for adults, and 12.000 FCFA for kids 4 to 12 years old. I think it is one of the cheapest among the major hotels in the city. Another great aspect is that the brunch is centered around kids activities with access to the pool, ride on poneys and others games provided. The restaurant itself is not super huge but the decor is nice and cosy enough. They also have outside s

Dakar Tour

Image
Hello there! I did something quite interesting last month: I went on a tour of Dakar. Kimono and matching scarf - Sinniature Dress - Centenaire market Straw bag - Kiabi Shoes - Pull&Bear via Numero Uno A tour of Dakar for someone who was born and raised here??? Well, Dakar is such a great city and has so much to offer. There are still so many places I have not really seen. So when a friend of mine asked me to join her on this tour, I said yes. The tour is organized by  Ziggy, a local travel influencer. He usually does tours and trips in other regions of my country; I think it is his first time doing Dakar.  The flyer of the tour  Unfortunately, a day before the tour, my friend contacted me to say that she could not join because her child was sick. So she gave her ticket away to anyone I wanted to invite. I called my BFF and on Sunday we were off to t he Monument of the Renaissance which was the meeting point. We arrived right before 11 am and spotted the other participants or the

41 and counting

Image
Who ever said: "Age ain't nothing but a number." is a liar (Sorry Aaliyah). I turned 41 recently. And I am feeling the age. Funnily enough I am not sure how a 41 year old is supposed to feel. We live in a world with ageism, where women try to look (and feel) younger. JLo is 50 but she looks 30. And I am constantly told  that my scarf and weight makes me look older. I cannot recall the number of times I have been called Madame or Grandma on the streets.  Kaftan and matching scarf - Sinniature Pants - Sandaga Shoes - Massimo Dutti via Numero Uno Earrings - Gift  It does bother me but not as much as feeling old. I can no longer handle sleepless nights. If I go out past a certain hour I feel sleepy. Sometimes it is hard getting up in the morning. I have also noticed that my knee hurts when I pray. A simple sneeze can give me lower back pain or a wry neck. Not eating in the morning can sometimes give me headache, the same as eating too much greasy food.  I tend to disregard t

Photo exhibit in Dakar

Hello Hello Hello! I have this routine of going out with the boys whenever they come over on vacations. The weekends I have them, are often too short to do anything significant a part from eating out and visiting family. Therefore when they are on a break, I plan a day in the city. Usually it is to do something cultural. Today I wanted to show them the exhbit of Omar Victor Diop , a senegalese photographer showing at Manege gallery of the Institut Francais (French Institute). Duster - Petersen market Bodysuit - Kiabi Pants - Numero Uno Bag - Jolof Cuir Collection Shoes - Sandaga market  Before going to see the exhibit, we stopped over at Arirang to have lunch. Arirang is probably the oldest Korean restaurant in the city. I have heard about how good it was from my Japanese colleagues. Yet I never got to try it until the other day. The restaurant is located in the city center next to the Press cafe or Carnot street. The place itself is very cosy and simple, nothing luxurious or extra. T
