Ode to My Fashion

I may have mentioned it once or twice on the blog before but my mother in law is a designer. She designs and sells clothes. It is at a small scale right now but she hopes to grow. One of the advantage of having a fashion designer in the family is free ( or almost  free) clothes. Every time we come on vacations, the entire family get to sample her latest design. It is usually ethnic wear therefore we get to showcase them for religious or family events. Recently, I was given yet another garb. It was a salmon pink linen tunic dress with orange accents and white embroidery at the collar and waist. The dress was a bit long and large but I did like the fabric and the simple design. However I gave it to her tailor to alter it a bit. Hi Dears! Back in March, I attended another Saree party. I was lucky this time because while fabric shopping back January, I spotted a half stitched Lehenga and Pallu set in red gold green and orange colors. It was half off so I did not hesitate to purchase it. When I heard of the Saree party, I returned to the same shop to get a fabric for a blouse. I settled for a golden orange one that would match the rest of the outfit perfectly. I wanted to make a cropped blouse with a ruffle hem because I became so obsessed with them. They seemed easy enough to try and after watching numerous videos on YouTube,  I started making the blouse. As usual, I underestimated the time it would take me to make the blouse. For Easter we had decided to finally visit Kerela. I kind of twisted my husband's hand with the argument that if I leaved India without visiting Kerela, I would be pissed. He wanted to wait for a better time. But he finally agreed with me and we went for five days, four nights. Since we did not have much time, we forgo sight seeing and all the tourist straps for another time. Instead we concentrated on relaxing in a nice resort and shopping for Kerelan sarees. The first part of our trip we stayed in Kochi, next to M.G. road. Our hotel was very old but still nice enough. It was at walking distance from Saree shops and restaurants. It had a room big enough with two twin beds we put together to have a bed big enough for us. The WiFi was perfect, the breakfast OK. It was a satisfying place to stay. Hello readers!    We planned a family trip down to Kerela during Easter break. This is the second time we are planning the trip as the first time we had to cancel due to an emergency at my Hubby's work. I was really hoping that we could make it down there soon (preferably before we leave India for good) because Kerela has been on my travel bucket list since my college years. As we did not have much time, we decided to stay there for four nights and five days, hoping it will be enough to do a little sight seeing but also relax and recuperate. Hello dear readers! Today I am giving you an easy DIY perfect for all your shirts that became too tight. I had this HM men's shirt for ages now. I bought it because I liked the color and the pattern. The fact that it was oversized at the time was a plus. I wore it many times ( here , here , here and here ). But it became tight after I gained weight. I did not want to part with it until I found a replacement so I used to tie it around dresses and high waist skirt. However recently I discovered a way to rock it as it is with a few alterations. It is to just add lace at the back. This Diy is not only for tight shirt but it can be used to revamp an old shirt as well.
