Ramadan Mubarak! Remember when I said that I was not really into the matchy matchy thing ....Well I lied. I am a Senegalese after all, and Senegalese women do matchy matchy. You can take the Senegalese out of Senegal, but you cannot take Senegal out of her. Today, I am matching in pink and black. And I am following all Summer trends: kimono, neon, jelly shoes... And what was the special occasion? Nothing much. Just wanted to get out of my jeans and tunic phunk for a while (although technically I am still wearing tunic and jeans but let us not get too anal about it!) After the crazy fun of Istanbul , I was at home in Senegal for a few days. I did not do much expect going to my in laws and parents house. Actually one of the reasons I was back home was to renew my passport. Although things are improving back home, it is still a hassle to renew a passport. Thankfully this time, it took me less than 4 days to get it. On the first day I had to buy a stamp from the tax office in my district. I decided to wear this: Scarf - 100 yen store Blouse - G.U. We decided to go on a road trip outside of Pune one Saturday. Just less than 200km from the city is Mahabaleshwar (pronounced maableshar), a hill country. According to the net, Mahabaleshwar is famous for strawberries , its view points, lake...It is supposed to be cooler because located on higher ground.  We went by car. A less than three hour ride turned into a four and a half hour drive. First in a road on a mountain, a truck had some problems and could not go forward, blocking the entire road. We miraculously manage to turn around only to end up in another traffic jam. There was another road with only one lane that impatient drivers managed to turn into four lanes. The drive after that was smoother. But upon arriving in Mahabaleshwar, it became crazier. We reached our location at Kates point with hardship as the road was narrow and there was not enough parking. Did I tell you that I was into printed pants lately. Blame it all on the Indian women I see wearing all kinds of printed colorful Dothi (btw is it Dothi or Dhoti?) pants (think Harem pants). I was actually going to purchase Dothi pants or Patiala (those often come with a matching scarf) since they are so comfy but I always chicken out at the last moment. The Dothi pants I want need to have an elastic waist band (they often come with just a string waist and I really do not trust that), and I do not want them hanging extra low (I already have a big butt, I am not willing to accentuate it).   Soch Trendy Dhoti pants available at fashionara.com With these conditions, I am still looking. Celebrities have been subject to wardrobe malfunction once or twice on the red carpet. Most recently, Eva Longoria got exposed at Cannes. Frankly that is what you get for wearing plunging neckline and dress with high slits (and going commando) Anyway, today I had my own wardrobe malfunction but contrary to some stars it was on purpose and I did not flash anyone. I have this dress that I love but does not fit me anymore. The side zipper does not want to close. I was not willing to wait for the back fat to melt to enjoy the dress so I decided to wear it as is and layer with a cardigan. This inspired me to find ways to wear my tight clothes. I am bored. And when I am bored, I am restless. I need to do things. I would have loved to make more jewelry, or pimp a tee shirt by adding some sequins to it. However I have not found a place where I could go and find all the materials I need for that. So in the meantime, I am doing things with materials that is easy to find. I saw a nice little project on Pinterest a while back. A woman painted on some glasses using her fingertips. I have been dying to recreate it. So yesterday, I went to the supermarket and picked up some paint and a set of ice cream bowls. The truth is I wanted to pick those items up a while back and even did put them on my basket just to back out at the last moment. Anyway, this time, I bought them and what do you know, the set of 6 ice cream bowls was marked downed from 150 rupees to 79 rupees. Do you know what an item number is? Well if you watch Bollywood movies you may have an idea. If not, let me try and explain. Item numbers are sexy (often raunchy) songs danced by a sexy Bollywood actress in the middle of a Bollywood movie. We all know that in Bollywood movies, actors often break into singing super long songs for no reasons, there is the hero (or heroin) song, the love song and then the item song. Usually the later does not have anything to do with the plot of the movie.
